Mr. Torgerson, Founder & President of Preferred Mortgage / Preferred Acceptance Company is a life long resident of the Eau Claire area. He graduated from UW-Eau Claire in 1972 with a BBA in Comprehensive Public Accounting. In 1976 he successfully became credentialed as a Certified Public Accountant. He founded Preferred Mortgage in 1979, the first non-bank lending company in the Chippewa Valley area. Soon afterwards, in 1984, he founded American Title & Abstract. In addition to his lending and title activities, John frequently serves as a qualified intermediary for Section 1031 exchanges. John also served for 6 years in Gov. Thompson's administration as Deputy Commissioner of Banking & Insurance. John and his wife, Rita, maintain a portfolio of real estate investments in western Wisconsin. |

Don is a 17+ year resident of Eau Claire. He grew up on a dairy farm in Northwestern Pennsylvania. After college he moved to Wisconsin for his first job and met his wife Deb in Madison. He and Deb have two sons, Graham (19) and Noel (17). After careers in interdenominational Christian youth work and a position as a University of Wisconsin Extension 4-H and Youth Agent in southern Wisconsin, he moved to Eau Claire to take a position as a pharmaceutical sales representative and later as Director of Sales for a local trucking firm. He recently joined Preferred Mortgage on January 1st of 2006 to orginate loans and several additional responsibilities in Mr. Torgerson's enterprises. |

Clay has more than 35 years experience in the financial industry, the last 11 with Preferred Mortgage. Born in Ashland, WI, Clay moved to the Eau Claire area after college and has lived in Altoona for 15 years. He has two sons, one living in California and another in Altoona. |

Steve graduated from UWEC in 1997 with a bachelors degree in Business Administration. His majors were in finance and economics. Steve has been employed with Preferred Mortgage since 1997. He started out as a loan processor and now is a loan originator. Steve grew up in Maiden Rock, WI and lived in Rochester, MN for 4 years prior to moving to Eau Claire to attend UWEC. He is currently marrried to Gail and they have lived in Eau Claire for 12 years. He and Gail have thre children: Noah (7), Justin (4), and Sarah (1). |

Kerry grew up in Hayward, WI. She came to UWEC to pursue a BS degree in Geography & Resource Management. She worked for Excel Energy in the Twin Cities putting her degree to work in the Geographic Information System department. She returned to her Alma Mater to earn another degree in accounting in 2004. Kerry was working for a local bank, until she joined Preferred Acceptance on January 1, 2006, to administrate our firms Section 1031 Tax Deferred Exchange activity. She is also the primary accountant, administering the Preferred Acceptance Company mortgage banking business. She and her husband share the parenting chores and blessings of two very busy pre-school girls. |
